Like a brother sister act, harmonies and guitars locked, Trish Anderson and Pete McKenna provoke with pithy lyrics and cutting humour. Trish was vocalist/lead guitarist with cult three-part harmony trio, GIT. With this their debut album, CLICKITY CLACK (Croxton), Trish emerges as a talented and original singer/songwriter in her own right. Pete's guitar keeps them country. Live they're joined by Dave Major (drums), a natural clown and Dave Sainsbury (elec Bass) a natural straight man.
During their 7 year reign the Gitgals released several successful albums most notably 'Flowers'. GIT toured several times to the US and attracted accolades in the US, British and European music press. This coupled with plenty of radio airplay at home ensured Trish and the others always had a high profile, appearing at most of the major 'roots' music festivals in Australia. With MRS WAINWRIGHT, Trish has continued the tradition by becoming a regular at the Tamworth Country Music festival and revisiting Adelaide and Sydney regularly. Currently, Trish has credits on the soundtrack to the TV show, Last Man Standing. Pete McKenna learned his craft from Les Herd after finding music at Dennington Primary, (an experience he shares with Shane and Marcia Howard). Trish and Pete first played together in folk/jazz group 'Monogamous Dog' along with Dave Major. Pete has moved back to the country in more ways than one and commutes to bring his brand of country style to Mrs Wainwright rejoining Trish to create a blend which is at once original but familiar. CLICKITY CLACK (out now on Croxton Records) was produced by Mick Thomas and Craig Pilkington (Sure things, Killjoys), at Audrey Studios. Trish and Pete were joined in the studio by Dave Folley (The Killjoys, John Schumann, Cyndi Boste, Chris Wilson) on drums, Mia Dyson on vocals and electric guitar and Chris Altmann (The Vandas)on pedal steel and Hawaiian slide. It's a fantastic document full of weird and wonderful twists and turns although for all it's quirkiness the message is simple, plain and heartfelt. As Martin Jones form Drum Media puts it so aptly: "Clickity Clack beats with a rock'n'roll heart. It's beauty and charm are tough and dusty..." "At the core of Mrs Wainwright are great songs. Trish Anderson and Pete McKenna grab fleeting emotions that often have no name and articulate them for us. Anthony Shortte creates rhythmic atmosphere with understatement to match the songwriters' subtle power. Trish has that vocal intimacy that gently engages the listener and draws them into her world." Chris Wilson (Spiderman,Crown of Thorns) "...Trish Anderson writes great songs: sassy numbers with tongue-in-cheek lyrics, and serious pieces too... Both... droll wit and on the other hand... full of pathos. " Tony Hillier, Rhythms |
