CROXTON VS THE US PRESIDENT According to a recent article in the New York Times, US President George Bush has about 250 songs loaded onto the iPod he received from his daughters as a birthday gift. Used mostly for his bike riding work-outs, the selections show a penchant for mostly country with a strong Texas flavour, and a very small sampling of a dozen tunes from the playlist has been released - most surprising is the inclusion of 'El Paso' by Texas alt-country group THE GOURDS, which featured on their 2000 Croxton Records release 'Bolsa De Agua' [croxt006]. As Joe Levy, a deputy managing editor at US Rolling Stone, observed of the playlist, "One thing that's interesting is that the president likes artists who don't like him." INTERVIEWS ON HOWLSPACE...
